Job Description
We’re seeking an expert and agile leader to drive focus categories growth for eBay in France and lead our team of industry experts. Reporting to the Country Manager, you’ll be responsible for the Focus Categories P&L from generating demand to driving operating income.
You’ll craft the categories strategy and coordinate various levers to deliver it: traffic creation, supply optimization, services and partnerships, pricing, and merchandising – embracing both buyers and sellers.
You’ll work closely with a range of partners, both local and global, to tailor the strategy to the French market while leveraging our global platform and operations.
The role is based in Central Paris, where our team has received several Great Place to Work awards (top 20 in 2023 and Great place to Work for Women).
Responsibilities
- Overall optimization of the Categories P&L and eBay market share in focus categories in France
- Definition of demand, supply, and services strategy
- Performance management, including analysis and course correction, covering buying activity, selling side, experience/services, and customer satisfaction – including imports & exports
- Optimizing existing performance and defining new business development options
- Closing and managing strategic partnerships when relevant
- Team management: leading a small team of direct reports (category managers)
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams: product, legal, marketing, customer service, and other categories leaders internationally
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with 5+ years in management consulting and category management roles in the e-commerce industry, ideally marketplace
- Knowledge of the e-commerce industry
- Able to navigate between strategic planning and operational execution, analytics, and commercial negotiation with partners, between sellers and buyer needs
- An agile leader with strong commercial competence
- A self-starter comfortable operating with small teams in a fast-changing environment
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and team management
- International and/or technology experience a plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with 5+ years in management consulting companies and e-commerce
- Fluent in French and English (operating in English)
